I want EVERYONE to read this....

Now Dear Reader, before you start to bitch and complain that all I do is ask you to read long boring articles, I promise that after this post I will post something funny, light and full of fluff, 'cause believe me, after reading this you will need it.

The link I am posting is from a USNews article dated May of 1973 and is a first person account by John McCain describing his imprisonment and torture in a Hanoi POW camp.

Now, I don't know where your political views lie, Dear Reader, but if while reading this narrative, you don't swell up with pride while simultaneously choking back tears at the degradation, humiliation and unspeakable physical pain this man endured, then you must be one of those rare people that have no empathy for the human spirit.

To read this is to understand John McCain today. Wanna know the genesis of his foreign policy? Read about how he "replayed" hundreds of history books in his mind while in SOLITARY FOR 3 STRAIGHT YEARS!!!

Do you want to know if John McCain is a real leader or another power hungry, money grubbing politician? Well, just read about how he sacrificed ( namely, physical torture that you and I couldn't even imagine) in the name of Honor and a Code of Conduct. When was the last time you saw one of our "leaders" conduct themselves honorably?
And to all those pieces of shit who suggest the John McCain was less than honorable because he eventually signed some worthless propaganda statement.....Kiss My Fat White Ass! I guarantee you wouldn't have lasted 48 hours in that hell hole without giving up everything...HE DID IT FOR 5 1/2 YEARS!!!
YOU MUST READ THIS ARTICLE!! I cannot stress enough the importance of every American reading this. The position John McCain and Barak Obama aspire to is THE most important position IN THE WORLD and you and I determine who will get that job. Go ahead, read Obama's books and get a sense of who he is. But don't fail to read this article too.

O.K., 'nuff said. Get a box of Kleenex, and get to reading.

p.s. at the end of the article, click on the link to see photos of the cell John was held in....in a word....gruesome.

Human Photography

Almost a century ago and without the aid of any pixel-generating computer software, the itinerant photographer Arthur Mole (1889-1983) used his 11 x 14-inch view camera to stage a series of extraordinary mass photographic spectacles that choreographed living bodies into symbolic formations of religious and national community. In these mass ornaments, thousands of military troops and other groups were arranged artfully to form American patriotic symbols, emblems, and military insignia visible from a bird's eye perspective. During World War I, these military formations came to serve as rallying points to support American involvement in the war and to ward off isolationist tendencies.
